There are funny K-dramas, and then there are also Korean comedy movies that will have you clutching your sides while still tearing up two scenes later.
While comedy-based K-dramas might be the long form, I will say K-movies are the short form.
So if you need to laugh, scream, and question your own seriousness, all within the space or 2-3 hours, here’s your ultimate watch list.
Midnight Runners

This movie follows two rookie cops who witness the kidnapping of a young girl and take matters into their own hands when their report is ignored, even with zero experience. Starring Park Seo Joon and Kang Ha Neul, this movie strikes a balance between action and comedy. Imagine two gym bros try to be heroes and somehow succeeding.
Extreme Job

A team of detectives go undercover to catch a drug ring, and somehow they have to open a fried chicken restaurant just to complete the mission only for the chicken becomes a massive hit, and suddenly, they’re running a business instead of solving crimes (That is already funny on its own). This movie broke Korean box office records for a reason. It has enough laughs and thrills to keep you glued to your screen to the end.
Okay Madam

After winning a free holiday ticket to Hawaii, a humble doughnut shop owner Mi Young, and her husband, Seok-Hwan, and their daughter get on a family plane, which was soon attacked by terrorists; guess who suddenly reveals she’s a retired secret agent and begins a rescue mission? Yes, Mi Young. This one is a hilarious ride from the beginning to the end, and even at that, it didn’t lose its action theme.
The Dude in Me

This one is about a gangster and a high school student who accidentally swap bodies after a freak accident, and chaos obviously follows, but the type that will make you almost laugh out your lungs. Looking for a movie with the right balance of heartwarming moments and humor? It’s this one, and trust me when I say it’ll make you believe in reincarnation.
Exit

YoonA and Jo Jung Suk play a pair of former rock climbers who must escape a city filled with toxic gas using only their climbing skills. Yes, it’s technically an action movie, but the humor is so sharp it deserves a comedy badge. The film highlights the enduring power of family and human compassion during crises. It has its tension moments, but the humor was done just right.
Mission: Possible

Yes, you read right. This mission is possible.
The movie is about a bumbling private investigator and a rookie secret agent who team up for an undercover mission that goes wrong in every possible way (now you get the drill). It’s parody, it’s action, it’s full of bad decisions that will make you tear up with laughter and have great timing.
Now If you ever think you’ve seen it all, Korean comedy movies will humble you. Especially these ones because they don’t just aim for laughter; they give you story lines, life lessons, and at least one scene where you laugh out loud.
